All sorts of disclaimers, and how to avoid and handle glitches that are part of life in business:

Internet:

Renovation Psychology is a wholesome business, providing family enrichment.  However, nearly all intern work will involve access to the internet.  There is no guarantee what might turn up in a search online.  Renovation Psychology takes no responsibility for the sites that might be included in the intern's searches.  We will trust that the intern has the inner discernment to avoid inappropriate content online and in other media.  If you have any concerns about a minor intern's experiences please do bring them forward to the intern's supervisor.

Email

The intern will be issued a business email address.  All correspondence through that address may be subject to inspection.  It is to be used for internship related matters.  Please do not sign up for any commercial offers with this address without checking with your supervisor, as spam can result.

Place of work - computers and equipment:

Many intern activities are done by remote commuting.  Team sessions will be held regularly according to types of tasks and available schedules.  Meetings may be in person, by telephone, or online.

Equipment is not furnished by Renovation Psychology.  The intern will be expected to use a personal computer with an high speed connection.  Telephone usage is also highly likely to be part of the task assignment, as this is a communication-based business.  If there is any concern about cell minutes or land lines being tied up, please review this with your intern and relay the outcome of this discussion to the supervisor so that assignments are not made that would tax your home's resources.

Please tell your intern what limits may be placed on size of incoming email and hard drive storage space.  Radio files can be very large, but would rarely be sent to an intern.  But it is good to discuss resource usage and provide a folder for this intern work, putting a limit on its top MB into its folder name (such as "Intern work max 250MB").

Matthew Code:

If you are ever upset with your situation at your internship, of course you may always go to a parent for counsel, yet other than that, and before your parent might follow up, you would be expected to address your concern directly with the person whom you have a gripe with.  If that does not work out well for you, then you may ask for a supervisor's assistance within Renovation Psychology, at which point you may also bring in a parent for help also if you desire.  Why is the called the Matthew code?  This is a Biblical concept from the book of Matthew in which we are given a blueprint for working out difficulties so that the process respects the authority of those involved, but also leads all the people to listen carefully to any offensive events and learn to engage in better consideration.  No one is perfect, so I like this approach.

Forgetfulness

Please do not jump to conclusions if the supervisor forgets a special condition that may have been specified previously.  We ask your forgiveness if such an oversight occurs.  There is so much information that flows through, that some may have not stuck.  Please call or email and correct errors as soon as they occur, or ask the intern to remind supervisors when personal preferences/needs might have been overlooked in the busy schedule.

If the intern forgets to show up or do a task they have agreed to complete, we will likewise provide an immediate remedy.  We will want to hear what happened and look for a way to avoid missing any further tasks.  (Using the Matthew code.)
